Uelen Side Table

Designed and contoured to go alongside a sofa or armchair the Uelen is the perfect spot to rest a single malt or glass of wine. Available in right and left hand versions with solid timber or glass top,

The glass top version displays the key feature of the unique design, a swooping curved frame, reaching out from a specially designed centre joint to each of the four slender, sculpted legs.  Combining Scandinavian/modernist  influences, as does all my work, with a hint back to a time of fine elegance, the Uelen will blend seamlessly with any period of furniture.

The versions seen here have mahogany frames, which in a past life were the panelling in a Midland Bank. The top is in Sapele in one piece, with ebony locking pegs in the joints. The ebony came from the black keys of a piano my grandfather gave to my mother in the 1920’s and adds a historic, touch to the piece.

Uelen is named after the birthplace of a furniture designer and maker James Krenov who was a pivotal influence in my direction of travel, with his focus on using the beauty of the timber itself as a design feature, combined with meticulous attention to detail.
