Room Divider

Designed to fulfil a specific client brief to match an existing Mango-wood base unit.

Mango being largely unavailable and unrealistically costly caused some lateral thinking for a solution. The answer was found in some nice quarter-sawn Iroko which was then stained with green and yellow stripes before an overall Walnut wash, resulting in a close match to the Mango.

The divider is double sided with no back, so need extra strength in the joints to remain rigid. This was achieved by the use of tapered sliding dovetails throughout, which locked up well, even before being glued. The overall style of the shelves and dividers reflected the Scandi-Modernist model.

The divider was finished in satin hard wax oil to provide a durable finish.
