Footstool in the style of Alan Peters
A giant of UK modern furniture design the late Alan Peters was trained in the Arts and Crafts style before pursuing a scholarship to study furniture in Japan. This subsequently influenced his design ideas throughout his life and produced some wonderful, modern furniture, made with consummate skill and attention to detail. Similar to the James Krenov references he also made good use of the natural figure of the timber as a design element.
This stool is loosely based on one of his, in English Olive Ash, with contrasting American Black Walnut foot and joint details.
It is finished in a special oil to preserve the light appearance of the timber, along with sealing the grain, and leaves a natural, almost unfinished, appearance.
